In the release notes for the latest version v5.11 of the “Google Health” app for Android and iOS, published on Friday, October 23, 2026 (local time), Google announced the launch of “Health Guardian” for the Fitbit screenless wearable tracker, “Fitbit Air.”

“Health Guardian” is a new set of health and safety features that use AI to track subtle bodily changes in the background, such as blood pressure, insulin resistance, and breathing quality during sleep. While it began rolling out for the “Google Pixel Watch 3,” “Google Pixel Watch 4,” and “Google Pixel Watch 5” in late September 2026, a rollout for the “Fitbit Air” had also been promised within 2026.

And now, “Health Guardian” for the “Fitbit Air” is finally available starting with version v5.11 of the “Google Health” app for Android and iOS. The “Health Guardian” feature on the “Fitbit Air” brings two functions: “Vascular Stress Level,” which estimates blood pressure trends without a cuff, and “Metabolic Stress Level,” which tracks changes in insulin resistance without the need for blood draws.

By configuring the settings, users will receive a trend report in the “Google Health” app on the 1st of every month. However, this is limited to “Fitbit Air” users subscribed to the paid “Google Health Premium” plan.

To receive the “Health Guardian” trend report, users need continuous wear data for at least 5 days out of a week for the “Vascular Stress Level,” and at least 7 consecutive days out of a month for the “Metabolic Stress Level.” If these conditions are met during October 2026, the first trend report is scheduled to arrive in early November 2026.

Please note that each feature of “Health Guardian” is intended solely for general wellness and informational reference purposes. They are not designed for diagnosing or pre-screening conditions such as hypertension or diabetes, nor are they intended to be used for adjusting medications or treatment plans, or for use by pregnant individuals.
