On Monday, March 23, 2026, Google announced that it will discontinue “Doppl,” an AI-powered virtual try-on app released in the US in June 2025, effective Thursday, April 30, 2026.
“Doppl” is an AI-powered virtual try-on application provided by Google’s experimental division, “Google Labs,” for Android and iOS. By using a full-body photo, the app creates a realistic avatar; users can then upload images of clothing found on the web or social media to see how the items look on their virtual avatar.
Additionally, in December 2025, a new “Discovery” feed was introduced, allowing users to shop. This update enabled the “Doppl” AI to suggest items that users could then virtually try on their avatars.
While “Doppl” offered unique features, it appears its purpose has been fulfilled, particularly with the emergence of virtual try-on capabilities within “Google Search (Google Shopping).” Nonetheless, the service is coming to an end less than a year after its launch.
