- Google has announced schedule adjustments for the plan to migrate “Google Assistant” to its Google AI, “Gemini.”
- The initial migration schedule is being adjusted to ensure a seamless transition.
- Details will be announced within the next few months.
On Friday, December 19, 2025, Google announced schedule adjustments for the planned transition of the “Google Assistant” voice service to its Google AI, “Gemini.”
A few months ago, on Friday, March 14, 2025, Google announced that the AI assistant on most mobile platforms—including Android devices, Android Auto, and Wear OS—would be upgraded and migrated from “Google Assistant” to “Gemini.” At the time, this migration was scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
However, Google is currently adjusting the original migration timeline to ensure a “seamless transition” from Google Assistant to Gemini. They stated that further details will be provided in the coming months.

In essence, it appears that delays in the upgrade transition from Google Assistant to Gemini have necessitated a revised development schedule. This announcement seems to be a roundabout, optimistic way of framing those delays.
