On Thursday, June 11, 2026 (local time), Google announced that it is expanding its “Ask Maps” feature—which integrates the Google AI “Gemini” into the “Google Maps” service—to Brazil, with support for Brazilian Portuguese.
“Ask Maps” originally launched in the United States and India on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Brazil marks the third country to receive this rollout.
While “Ask Maps” is currently a feature for the Android and iOS versions of the “Google Maps” app, a rollout to the desktop version of “Google Maps” has also been announced.

“Ask Maps”
“Ask Maps,” the Google AI “Gemini” integration for “Google Maps,” is an AI feature that allows you to find spots based on complex criteria through natural conversation with Gemini.
By tapping the “Ask Maps” button located at the bottom left of the “Google Maps” search bar, you can ask questions with complex criteria, such as “My phone is running low on battery, is there a place where I can charge while having coffee without waiting in a long line?” or “Are there any public tennis courts open with lights tonight?” Ask Maps will quickly find and provide results that match your needs. For queries like “I want to visit the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes; are there any recommended spots to stop by along the way?”, it provides not only directions but also insider tips such as estimated arrival times, hidden hiking trails, and information on how to obtain free admission tickets, gathered from user reviews and search data.
Furthermore, “Ask Maps” takes into account your past search history and saved locations to suggest the best, personalized spots for you. You can also complete actions such as restaurant reservations, saving to lists, sharing with friends, or starting navigation with just a few taps.
