- “Personal Intelligence” for “AI Mode” finally launched in Japan/Japanese environment around Friday, May 8, 2026.
- Features are identical to the “Personal Intelligence” available in “Gemini.”
- Currently rolling out for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members.
On May 6, 2026 (Wednesday), Robby Stein (@rmstein), Vice President of Product for Google Search, announced the global expansion of “Personal Intelligence,” a personal AI assistant that provides more personalized information, which initially began rolling out to the US-based AI search service “AI Mode” in late January 2026.
Following this, “Personal Intelligence” for “AI Mode” finally began rolling out in Japan and for the Japanese environment around May 8, 2026 (Friday). “Personal Intelligence” in “AI Mode” is now available in Japan.

“Personal Intelligence” for “AI Mode” offers the same functionality as the “Personal Intelligence” for “Gemini” that was released in Japan in mid-April 2026. By configuring connections to “Gmail,” “Google Photos,” “YouTube,” and “Google Search” via the “App Integration” settings in “AI Mode,” users can cross-reference personal information to retrieve specific details, infer information from source materials, and receive more accurate responses.
However, as of now, “App Integration” for the Japanese version of “Personal Intelligence (AI Mode)” only supports “Gmail” and “Google Photos,” with “Google Calendar” and “Google Drive” listed as “Coming Soon.” In other words, the feature set is currently limited.
Additionally, while the “App Integration” for “Personal Intelligence” appears in a pop-up window the first time, there is no designated entry point for “App Integration” afterward, making it impossible to reconfigure settings. The implementation is quite loose.

“Personal Intelligence” for “AI Mode” is available for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members.
