Robby Stein (@rmstein), Vice President of Product for Google Search, announced on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the global expansion of “Personal Intelligence.” This personal AI assistant, which provides highly personalized information, was first launched in late January 2026 for the US-based AI search service “AI Mode.”
“Personal Intelligence” in “AI Mode” is a service equivalent to the “Personal Intelligence” feature for Gemini, which became available in Japan in mid-April 2026. By configuring connections to “Gmail,” “Google Photos,” “YouTube,” and “Google Search” within the “App Integrations” settings of “AI Mode,” users can cross-reference personal information, retrieve specific details, and receive accurate answers based on inferences from their own data sources.
Initially, “Personal Intelligence” for “AI Mode” was limited to “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” memberships in the United States. However, it has now been announced that the service is expanding to these memberships globally. While availability in Japan and for Japanese-language environments has not yet been confirmed as of this writing, it is expected to be rolled out within the next few days.
