The Google Photos picker being introduced to the Android and iOS versions of the Gmail app will automatically launch when attaching image files to draft emails, provided the user is logged into their Google account. This allows for the direct attachment of photos and videos from backed-up albums, collections, and shared albums. Not only can users select multiple photos and videos at once, but a search bar is also available, making it possible to find and attach specific media via keyword searches.
Additionally, the Google Photos picker feature in the Android and iOS Gmail apps can be turned off via the Photos picker settings.
