On Tuesday, August 11, 2026 local time, Google announced that the Google AI “Gemini” app has surpassed 1 billion monthly users.
It was also revealed that 63% of “Gemini” users utilize the app by speaking directly to it using voice alone. Among busy parents, 43% reportedly use voice for daily tasks as well.
Furthermore, in “Gemini Live,” 1 in 5 interactions utilizes live cameras or screen sharing, helping users solve problems in real time.
It was also disclosed that 38% of school-related requests include attached files, suggesting that students are finding “Gemini” helpful for their studies. Additionally, “Gemini” reportedly generates over 150 million images per day.
Usage among Apple users is also expanding, with active iOS users exceeding 100 million and heavy macOS users submitting prompts about twice as frequently as those on other platforms. Having crossed the 1 billion monthly active users milestone, “Gemini” is now the fastest-growing product in Google’s history.
