On Friday, August 28, 2026 local time, Google announced updates regarding usage limits for its AI research tool, “Gemini Notebook.”

Previously, “Gemini Notebook” had daily limits set for individual features such as “video overviews,” “audio overviews,” and “infographics.” However, starting Wednesday, September 2, 2026, these usage limits will be revised to a compute-based model, aligning with how limits are applied in the “Gemini” app.

Additionally, the usage limit reset interval will be drastically shortened from the current 24 hours to just 5 hours. This means users will be able to make even better use of the “Studio” content generation features.

Along with this change, a scheduling feature will be introduced, allowing users to specify execution times for particularly resource-heavy tasks like “video overviews” to help them manage their usage limits more effectively.

■ Changes
  • Compute-based usage limits: Limits that were previously set per feature will now be determined based on prompt complexity, chat length, number of sources, and features used. Usage limits can be checked in the settings screen. “Google AI Ultra” memberships will receive up to 5 times the usage limit of “Google AI Pro.”
  • Shorter reset cycle: The limit reset interval will be reduced from 24 hours to 5 hours, allowing usage allowances to be replenished more continuously throughout the day.
■ New Features
  • Scheduled Generation: A feature has been added that allows users to schedule resource-heavy artifacts to run automatically at a later time, making it easier to manage limits.

  • コンピューティング量に基づく使用量上限: これまで機能ごとに設定されていた上限が、プロンプトの複雑さ、チャットの長さ、ソースの数、使用する機能などを考慮して設定されるようになります。使用量上限は設定でご確認いただけます。Google AI Ultra のサブスクリプションをご利用のお客様には、AI Pro プランの最大 5 倍の使用量上限が適用されます。
  • リセット サイクルの短縮: 上限のリセット間隔が 24 時間から 5 時間に短縮され、1 日を通してより継続的に使用枠が割り当てられるようになります。 
  • 生成の予約実行: コンピューティング負荷の高いアーティファクトの上限をより適切に管理するために、後で自動的に実行されるようスケジュールを設定できます。

変更されない点: 

  • 機能: これまでお使いいただいた機能は、引き続きすべてご利用になれます。
