On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Google announced the general availability of “Ask Gemini in Drive (Ask Gemini),” an integration for the Google AI “Gemini” within the “Google Drive” cloud storage service, part of the “Google Workspace” suite. This follows the initial beta launch for U.S. English users on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
“Ask Gemini” in “Gemini for Google Drive” is a feature that enables users to ask complex questions within Google Drive. For inquiries such as “What should I ask my tax accountant before filing my tax return?”, Gemini provides detailed answers based on the data stored in your files.
In conjunction with the general availability of “Ask Gemini in Drive,” the feature has expanded support to 29 languages, including Japanese. This means that users can now utilize “Ask Gemini” in Google Drive in Japanese.
Please note that “Ask Gemini” in Google Drive is available for Google Workspace accounts, as well as for members with “Google AI Pro” or “Google AI Ultra” memberships under the Google One AI plan.
