On Thursday, May 14, 2026 (local time), Google announced the expansion of language support for the message “Refine” feature within “Gemini in Google Chat,” the Google AI-integrated service for the “Google Workspace” chat platform, which was previously limited to English environments.
The “Refine” feature in “Gemini in Google Chat” utilizes Gemini to polish your messages by correcting phrasing, grammar, and spelling, ensuring more effective communication. It is particularly useful when drafting messages that might otherwise come across as overly emotional, helping to prevent unnecessary friction.
This “Refine” feature now supports French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. Since the feature can also translate messages into the supported languages, it facilitates smoother communication across different languages and regions.
Please note that this expanded “Refine” feature in “Gemini in Google Chat” is available to users with “Google Workspace” accounts, as well as members of the “Google AI Plus,” “Google AI Pro,” and “Google AI Ultra” plans under “Google One.”
