On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Google announced a major update to “Gemini in Chrome,” its integrated Google AI browser service for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus.

This major update to “Gemini in Chrome” introduces “Gemini 3,” Google’s most intelligent AI model. Additionally, “Gemini in Chrome” will feature brand-new defensive capabilities built on strict security standards to protect users against emerging threats.

As an example of these new defensive features, the autonomous agent function “Auto browse”—currently rolling out as a preview for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members under the Google One AI plans in the U.S.—will now include more advanced controls. It will pause to request user confirmation or permission and prompt the user before executing tasks such as social media posts, ensuring protection against new threats while preventing unintended actions.

Please note that “Gemini in Chrome” for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus is currently limited to the United States.
