Gemini for Home Early Access Expands in the US

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Google announced a further expansion of the early access program for “Gemini for Home,” the next-generation voice assistant for Google Home / Nest devices, which began rolling out in the US on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, about a month and a half ago.

However, the rollout is still limited to the US. Previously, when you signed up for the “Gemini for Home” early access program through the Google Home app for Android / iOS, an invitation would be sent a few days later once access was granted.

With this latest expansion, the efficiency of sending invitations has improved, and you will now receive an invitation within 24 hours of signing up for the “Gemini for Home” early access program. While it’s still an early access program, those who wish to can now start using “Gemini for Home” much faster. This is, of course, only in the US.

With “Gemini for Home,” the voice assistant on your linked Google Home / Nest devices will be upgraded from Google Assistant to Gemini, allowing you to use a high-performance, conversational voice assistant. This applies to Google Home / Nest devices released since 2016, including the original Google Home and Google Home Mini.

Furthermore, it was also additionally announced that third-party Google Home devices, such as the JBL Link View and the Lenovo Smart Display series, will also support “Gemini for Home.”

Additionally, members subscribed to the monitoring service “Nest Aware,” now called “Google Home Premium,” can also use the intuitive conversational service “Gemini Live” on four eligible Nest devices—Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Audio, Nest Mini, and Nest Hub Max—by saying, “OK Google, let’s chat.”
