On Friday, July 31, 2026 (local time), Google released the July 2026 edition of “Gemini Drops,” introducing the new Google AI “Gemini” features announced this month (July 2026).

The July 2026 “Gemini Drops” lineup includes a total of six features: macOS “Gemini” app voice control, the global rollout of “Gemini Spark,” “Gemini 3.6 Flash” and “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite,” updates to the “Avatar” generation feature, expansion of “Gemini” app integrations, and personalized image generation through “Personal Intelligence.” However, only two of these are rolling out for Japan / Japanese users: the global expansion of “Gemini Spark” and the release of “Gemini 3.6 Flash” and “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite.”

macOS “Gemini” App Voice Control

A new feature has been added to the macOS “Gemini” app, allowing users to perform voice operations over any window by simply holding down the Fn key.

By default, it functions as a transcription tool that automatically removes filler words like “um” and verbal slips from your speech, inserting the formatted text directly at the cursor position. When the “Gemini” reasoning feature is enabled in the settings, more advanced tasks become possible, such as using voice commands to summarize highlighted content on the screen, rewriting text in different tones, or giving voice instructions to generate and edit images.

This new macOS “Gemini” app feature is rolling out globally starting with English-language environments. Support for additional languages will be expanded progressively.

Global Rollout of “Gemini Spark”

The personal AI agent “Gemini Spark” has expanded its global rollout, including availability in Japan.

In conjunction with the expansion of “Gemini Spark,” integration with “Google Workspace” services has also been enhanced. This includes editing Google Sheets and Google Slides files, reading aloud comments in Google Sheets and Google Slides, editing shared Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides files, adding images to Google Docs and Google Slides files, and editing and revising Google Docs using the “Canvas” tool. Additionally, the operating speed of “Gemini Spark” itself has been increased by over 50%.

However, “Gemini Spark” is not available in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Nigeria.

“Gemini 3.6 Flash” and “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite”

Google AI “Gemini” has announced two new AI models: “Gemini 3.6 Flash” and “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite.”

“Gemini 3.6 Flash” is a flagship AI model that offers improved processing efficiency and reduced operating costs compared to its predecessor, “Gemini 3.5 Flash.” “Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite” is the fastest and most lightweight AI model in the “Gemini 3.5” family.

Updates to the “Avatar” Generation Feature

The “Avatar” generation feature available in the Google AI “Gemini” app has been updated, eliminating the need to re-upload selfie videos or recorded audio when regenerating an “avatar.”

That said, the “Avatar” generation feature in the “Gemini” app remains rolled out exclusively for English-language environments.

Expansion of Gemini “App Integrations”

The supported services for “App Integrations” in the Google AI “Gemini” app have been expanded with the addition of three new services: the file management service “Dropbox,” the rental property search service “Zillow Rentals,” and the travel experience booking service “Viator.”

However, this is a phased rollout depending on region and language. Availability in the Japanese environment has not yet been confirmed.

Personalized Image Generation via “Personal Intelligence”

As a new feature of the personal AI assistant “Personal Intelligence” within Google AI “Gemini,” personalized image generation has begun rolling out.

Personalized image generation in “Personal Intelligence” links the image generation AI “Nano Banana” with the online photo library service “Google Photos.” Based on information obtained from apps connected via “App Integrations,” this new feature generates images that reflect the user’s personal preferences and lifestyle. It is initially rolling out to “Gemini” users in the United States.
