On Friday, August 28, 2026 (local time), Google released the August 2026 edition of “Gemini Drops,” introducing new features and services related to the Google AI “Gemini” announced this month (August 2026).
The lineup for the August 2026 “Gemini Drops” consists of a total of 8 features: a 1-year free plan of “Google AI Pro” for students, a newly established “Student Hub,” “Study Notebooks,” “Gemini 3.7 Flash,” multiple new “Gemini Live” features, a massive expansion of “Connected Apps,” “Gemini” inside “Waymo” vehicles, and “Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash.” Note that the 1-year free plan for “Google AI Pro” is for students in the United States, whereas in Japan it is provided as a 1-year free plan for “Google AI Plus.”
1-Year Free Plan of “Google AI Pro” (Plus in Japan) for Students
Eligible students can now take advantage of a 1-year free plan for “Google AI Pro” (“Google AI Plus” in Japan).
The offer is valid until Thursday, December 31, 2026, and separate terms and conditions apply.

New “Student Hub”
A dedicated space tailored for academics called the “Student Hub” has been newly established within the “Gemini” app.
By connecting your courses and study materials with “Gemini,” you can create study notebooks, generate flashcards, and tackle simple practice quizzes all in one place.
“Study Notebooks”
A feature has been launched where uploading your class materials prompts “Gemini” to automatically generate “Study Notebooks” complete with a study plan organized by learning topics.
Within “Study Notebooks,” you can take customizable diagnostic quizzes to pinpoint areas where your understanding may be lacking. Based on the results, Gemini creates bite-sized lessons and individual quizzes, complemented by a dashboard to track your progress in real-time. “Study Notebooks” can be created via “+ New notebook” inside the “Student Hub.”
“Gemini 3.7 Flash”
“Gemini 3.7 Flash” has been announced as a new AI model for Google AI “Gemini.”
It features improved reasoning capabilities and higher accuracy in multi-step tasks, alongside better tool integration with “Google Workspace” apps, making it easier to reliably turn ideas into actual actions.

Multiple New “Gemini Live” Features
Four new AI agent features have rolled out to the intuitive conversational feature “Gemini Live”: the integration of the autonomous AI agent “Gemini Spark,” “Daily Brief,” “Gmail” operations, and “Personal Intelligence.”
A key highlight of these new “Gemini Live” features is that users don’t need to worry about which tool to use; “Gemini” automatically assesses and handles the process within a single conversational flow. For example, if you ask “What’s on my schedule today?”, it will bring up your “Google Calendar” events along with school notifications received in your “Gmail” inbox. If you follow up by asking, “Find the school event invite from my email, add it to the family calendar, and include travel time,” the “Gemini Spark” agent will process that task in the background.

Massive Expansion of “Connected Apps”
The supported apps and services for “Connected Apps” in the Google AI “Gemini” app have been significantly expanded across four categories: Productivity & Creative, Local & Entertainment, Music, and Home, Health & Lifestyle.
In the Productivity & Creative category, meeting summary apps “Granola” and “Otter.ai,” as well as the website building tool “Wix,” have been added. In the Local & Entertainment category, experience booking services “Fever” and “GetYourGuide,” car rental service “Localiza,” UK restaurant reservation service “OpenTable,” and ticketing platform “Ticketmaster” are now included.
In the Music category, the “iHeartRadio” and “Pandora” apps have been added, allowing users to discover new radio stations and play playlists. Finally, in the Home, Health & Lifestyle category, home contractor search services “Angi” and “Thumbtack,” along with doctor appointment booking service “Zocdoc,” have been integrated.
“Gemini” inside “Waymo” Vehicles
A new feature has been added allowing users to utilize “Gemini” as an in-car assistant inside autonomous taxis operated by Alphabet’s “Waymo.”
By tapping the “Gemini” icon on the in-vehicle screen and using voice commands, passengers can hands-free adjust cabin settings or ask about nearby points of interest. Note that “Gemini” inside “Waymo” vehicles operates completely independently of the “Waymo Driver” (the core autonomous driving system itself) and will not activate in any way until explicitly invoked by the user.
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash”
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” has been announced as a new video generation AI model for developers.
With “Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash,” users can seamlessly extend videos starting from their final scenes, making it easier to build continuous and dynamic storylines.
