This “Avatar” feature in the “Gemini” app has evolved alongside the app itself, receiving updates through the video generation AI model “Gemini Omni” and the image generation AI model “Nano Banana”. However, as mentioned earlier, it has remained limited to English environments—meaning it has not been officially rolled out for Japanese-language environments.

Meanwhile, the “Avatar” feature has suddenly been unlocked for Japanese environments in the iOS version of the “Gemini” app. Around the time of the iOS “Gemini” app v1.2026.3670601.0 update released in mid-September 2026, an “Avatar” option was newly added to the settings menu.
Furthermore, it is actually possible to create an avatar. However, while the settings menu labels it in Japanese as “Avatar” (アバター), the avatar creation process itself was displayed in English.
In other words, the localization is still incomplete. Since the “Avatar” feature does not yet appear in the Android version of the “Gemini” app, this is strictly a provisional or preliminary rollout for now.
While the avatar creation feature in the iOS version of the “Gemini” app is still in a provisional rollout stage, it is certain that preparations are underway to expand availability to language environments other than English.
