On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Google announced “Gemini 3 Flash,” a new AI model in the new generation Google AI model “Gemini 3” family.
The newly announced “Gemini 3 Flash” is a cutting-edge AI model focused on speed and low cost, just like the previous “Flash” series. It maintains the foundation of “Gemini 3” and “Gemini 3 Pro,” which deliver state-of-the-art performance in complex reasoning, multimodality, and visual understanding, while being optimized for latency, efficiency, and cost.
Previously, “Gemini 2.5 Flash” was the top model in the “Flash” series, but “Gemini 3 Flash” not only significantly surpasses it but also achieves cutting-edge performance comparable to “Gemini 3 Pro” despite being a “Flash” model. In terms of cost for the “Gemini Developer API,” “Gemini 2.5 Flash” is $0.3 per million tokens (text/image/video), whereas “Gemini 3 Flash” is $0.5. For comparison, “Gemini 3 Pro” is $2.0.
“Gemini 3 Flash” is beginning to roll out as the default AI model in the Google AI “Gemini” app, replacing the previous “Gemini 2.5 Flash (Fast mode).” It will also be rolled out as the default AI model for the AI Search “AI Mode”.
