On Monday, December 8, 2025, Google announced new information about “Android XR” during “The Android Show | XR Edition,” a version of its developer-focused “YouTube Live” program, “The Android Show (#TheAndroidShow),” dedicated to Google’s cross-reality XR operating system, “Android XR.”
The announcement revealed a new feature called “PC Connect,” which will be rolled out in an update for Samsung’s “Galaxy XR” headset, powered by “Android XR.” “PC Connect” is a function that allows users to connect their “Galaxy XR” to a Windows PC, enabling them to display their Windows desktop and native Google apps on the “Galaxy XR” side-by-side.
This allows users to work on their Windows desktop while simultaneously playing game apps from “Google Play Games.” Additionally, by using the “Travel Mode” on the “Galaxy XR,” a stable view is maintained even while on the move.
The new “Galaxy XR” feature, “PC Connect,” will be rolled out as a beta version along with the “Galaxy XR” update.
Furthermore, the “Galaxy XR” update will also enable the use of “Likeness,” a real-time digital facial recognition feature that reflects the user’s facial expressions and hand gestures onto an avatar during video calls. However, the “Likeness” avatar must be created using an Android device compatible with the “Likeness” app.
