  • Google officially announces the rollout of the firmware v253.2 update for the “Fitbit Air.”
  • The update contains only minor bug fixes.
  • Because the “Fitbit Air” firmware update can take about 10 minutes, performing it during the day or evening is recommended.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026 local time, Google officially announced the rollout of the firmware v253.2 update for the screenless wearable tracker “Fitbit Air.”

Although the firmware v253.2 (v67.20001.253.2) update for the “Fitbit Air” was spotted in mid-July 2026, this marks Google’s official announcement. The update appears to focus solely on minor bug fixes.

No new features or major additions have been announced for the “Fitbit Air” firmware v253.2 update.

Firmware updates for the “Fitbit Air” are not applied automatically. Instead, users must check for the update in the “Today” tab of the Android or iOS version of the “Google Health” app and initiate it manually. This is because running a firmware update around midnight, for example, can temporarily make that day’s step count inaccurate.

Because the “Fitbit Air” firmware update can take around 10 minutes, it is recommended to perform the update during the day or in the evening. Additionally, having a battery level of 50% or higher is a mandatory requirement to run the firmware update.

Please note that the displayed firmware version after the update differs slightly between platforms: it shows as v67.20001.253.2 on the Android version of the “Google Health” app and v20001.253.2 on the iOS version.
