- Google announces a relocation of the prompt box in “Ask Gemini (Ask Gemini in Meet).”
- It has been moved to the left side to improve visibility and accessibility.
- It currently supports English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026 (local time), Google announced a change to the “Ask Gemini (Ask Gemini in Meet)” feature, the Google AI integration for the video conferencing service “Google Meet” within Google Workspace, which first began rolling out on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
“Ask Gemini in Meet” is an AI-powered feature that utilizes the Gemini sidebar displayed during video calls. It allows users to summarize discussions, identify who said what, highlight key points, generate tasks, and—if “Take notes” is enabled—help late joiners catch up on what they missed. Interactions with “Ask Gemini in Meet” are visible only to the individual user.
When “Take notes” is turned off, Gemini will not answer questions regarding meetings that occurred prior to a user joining late, ensuring that confidentiality and privacy standards are maintained.
Since the launch of “Ask Gemini in Meet,” the prompt box was positioned on the right side of the screen; however, it has now been moved to the left side to make it easier to locate.

While “Ask Gemini in Meet” was initially only available in English for the desktop version of Google Meet, it now supports English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. Note that only one language can be supported at a time.
Additionally, “Ask Gemini in Meet” remains a feature available specifically for Google Workspace business accounts.
