On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Google finally officially announced the interoperability between its Android nearby sharing feature, “Quick Share,” and Apple’s inter-device nearby sharing feature, “AirDrop.”

To coincide with this “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” interoperability, a new app called “Quick Share Expansion” has been added to the “System Services” list of system apps essential for the Android platform’s proper functioning, and its rollout has begun. Since the “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” interoperability will initially be exclusive to the new-generation Google Pixel “Pixel 10” series, the “Quick Share Expansion” app is also currently being rolled out specifically for the “Pixel 10” series.

Support for “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” interoperability is planned to expand to more Android devices in the future, and along with it, the “Quick Share Expansion” app will also be rolled out to those compatible Android devices.
