- Starting in early June 2026, Android will finally roll out import and export features for IDs and passwords, now including support for “passkeys.”
- Once the feature is rolled out, the “Export passwords” and “Import passwords” menu items in the “Settings” tab of “Google Password Manager” will be updated to “Export passwords and passkeys” and “Import passwords and passkeys.”
- Importing and exporting IDs and passwords via CSV files will continue to be available as before.
In the “Google System Release Notes“—a summary of the “Google System Updates” that enhance the security and reliability of Android-related devices, published on Monday, June 1, 2026—Google announced a new feature for the Android “Google Password Manager” that allows for the import and export of IDs and passwords, including “passkeys.”
While “Google Password Manager” has previously supported importing and exporting IDs and passwords via CSV files, this update adds support for including “passkeys.” Furthermore, this enables the import and export of IDs and passkeys between “Google Password Manager” and third-party password manager services.
This import/export functionality, including passkeys, has finally begun rolling out as of early June 2026. Once the update reaches your device, the “Export passwords” and “Import passwords” menu items in the “Settings” tab of “Google Password Manager” will be updated to “Export passwords and passkeys” and “Import passwords and passkeys.”
To utilize the import/export of IDs and passwords including passkeys, a third-party password manager that complies with credential exchange standards is required. As before, importing and exporting IDs and passwords via CSV files will remain available.
The import and export feature including passkeys is being rolled out via version 26.21 or later of the Android “Google Play services” app. However, it does not appear to be a wide-scale rollout at this time; rather, it seems to be a gradual deployment to select Android devices.
Among the Android devices I own, I have only been able to confirm the update to “Export passwords and passkeys” and “Import passwords and passkeys” on my “Pixel 10 Pro XL.”
