On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Google announced that “NotebookLM,” its Gemini-powered AI research and writing assistant, now supports the generation of “Video Overviews” within the Android and iOS versions of the “Google NotebookLM” app.
That said, “Video Overview” generation for the Android/iOS “Google NotebookLM” app was already supported as of Tuesday, January 27, 2026, a week ago. This means Google’s official announcement comes as a somewhat delayed notice.
However, new information has come to light through an official short video released alongside this announcement: the upcoming support for customizing “Video Overviews.”
While the Android and iOS versions of the “Google NotebookLM” app currently support “Video Overview” generation, they do not yet offer the customization options available in the web version of “NotebookLM,” allowing only for simple generation. However, the official short video included content suggesting that customization for “Video Overviews” is headed to the mobile apps.
Although a specific timeframe was not mentioned, it appears that the Android and iOS “Google NotebookLM” apps will support “Video Overview” customization in the future.
Additionally, while customization for “Slides” is also currently unsupported in the Android and iOS versions of the “Google NotebookLM” app, this feature has already been officially teased for a future update.
