  • An analysis of the app files from the Android “Google Wallet” app v26.36.978794874 update confirmed the addition of resource codes related to Thailand’s QR payment service “PromptPay” and Japan’s QR payment service “PayPay” under “Traveler QR”.
  • The likelihood of “PayPay” supporting the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app has increased.

Previously, in our original site content “App Teardown,” we reported on the possibility that “Traveler QR,” a new QR code payment service utilizing China’s “Alipay+” payment service, would be rolled out to “Google Wallet.”

“Traveler QR” is a feature that allows users to make QR code payments at “Alipay+” affiliated merchants using Visa or Mastercard credit cards registered in “Google Wallet.” Additionally, since “Alipay+” also supports SoftBank’s QR code payment service “PayPay,” we previously reported on the possibility that “PayPay” payments via “Traveler QR” in the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app could also become a reality.

About a month and a half has passed since then. While “Traveler QR” in the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app has not yet been rolled out, new developments regarding “PayPay” support have emerged. Therefore, we are once again bringing you the details through our “Jetstream” original app file analysis report content, “App Teardown.”
