From late September to early October 2026, the UI of the Android content store app “Google Play Store” suddenly underwent a revamp.

In the newly redesigned Android version of the “Google Play Store” app, a new navigation bar has been introduced at the top of the screen. While the navigation bar in the previous Android “Google Play Store” app featured fixed menus such as “For you,” “Comics,” and “Top charts,” the newly updated app now displays personalized favorite shortcuts optimized for each individual account.

That being said, with the UI suddenly changing and users unable to manually configure the contents of the navigation bar, it honestly feels a bit less user-friendly. We will just have to get used to it.

As for the Android “Google Play Store” app with its newly introduced navigation bar and redesigned UI, it was officially announced in the latest Google System Update information (Google System Release Notes) released on Monday, September 7, 2026, under the description: “[Phone] With a new navigation bar, you can explore more of your interests directly on Play home pages.” However, at the time of this “Google System Release Notes” publication, there was simply no way of knowing what it actually entailed.
