On Friday, February 27, 2026, Google announced the expansion of the “Custom Sticker” (Sticker) creation feature to the Android version of the “Google Photos” app, a feature initially rolled out to the iOS version.

The “Sticker” creation feature for the Android “Google Photos” app appears to have begun its rollout from late February to early March 2026. Among the Android devices I own, I have confirmed the availability of the sticker creation feature on the Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, and Pixel Tablet.

However, since it hasn’t arrived yet on some devices like the Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it seems to be a phased rollout. Additionally, the sticker creation feature for the Android “Google Photos” app requires a device with 4GB of RAM or more.

The sticker creation feature in the “Google Photos” app is a convenient tool that allows you to cut out subjects from photos to easily create stickers. It’s simple to use: just open a photo in the “Google Photos” app, long-press on a subject like a person or a pet, and tap the menu that appears over the cutout.

In the Android version of the “Google Photos” app, currently only “Copy sticker” is displayed. This means the created sticker is simply saved to the clipboard. However, you can also use the “Quick Share” nearby sharing feature directly from the “Copy sticker” option.

On the other hand, the sticker creation feature in the iOS version of “Google Photos” is more advanced than its Android counterpart. While the method is the same—long-pressing a subject—the iOS version shows not only “Copy sticker” but also the “Face Group” name (e.g., “☺xxx”) and a “◆Summary” option that integrates with “Ask Photos,” Google’s AI powered by Gemini.

Tapping “☺xxx” directly triggers a search in “Ask Photos” for other photos of the same subject from that face group. The “◆Summary” option brings up the “Ask Photos” prompt bar, allowing for custom AI-powered searches.

Furthermore, in the iOS version, stickers you create are saved in the “Stickers” menu under the “Collections” tab. This makes it easy to reuse any sticker you’ve previously created by accessing the “Stickers” menu.

This “Stickers” menu in the “Collections” tab has not yet been rolled out to the Android version of the “Google Photos” app.
