On Thursday, August 20, 2026 local time, Google announced support for customizing the “Listen” tab in the Android version of its news service, “Google News.”
In the Android version of the “Google News” app, the “Listen” tab is available, allowing users to listen to summarized morning top news called “Google News Audio Briefing” in a podcast-style audio format. However, this feature is rolled out for English-language environments such as the United States and is not yet available in Japan or Japanese-language environments.
The “Listen” tab in the Android “Google News” app is now gaining customization support, making it easy to toggle ON and OFF the news topics played as the “Google News Audio Briefing.”
That being said, as mentioned above, the “Listen” tab in the Android version of the “Google News” app is currently not available in Japan or Japanese-language environments.
