  • The rollout of the “Google Health” app for both Android and iOS is expected to be completed by Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
  • Is dual-pairing support exclusive to the “Fitbit Air”?

On Thursday, May 7, 2026 (local time), Google announced that as part of its healthcare feature integration, the “Fitbit” app for Android and iOS—offered by its fitness tracker subsidiary, Fitbit—would be sequentially rebranded as the new “Google Health” app starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Subsequently, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, the iOS version of the “Fitbit” app received the v5.00 update and was rebranded to “Google Health.” Following this, the Android version of the “Fitbit” app received the v5.00 update on Friday, May 22, 2026, completing its transition to the “Google Health” app.

The rollout of the “Google Health” app for Android and iOS is scheduled to be completed globally by Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The “Google Health” App

The “Google Health” app is a new healthcare management application rebranded from the Android/iOS “Fitbit” app as part of Google’s integration of healthcare features.

The app features a bottom navigation bar with four tabs: “Today,” “Fitness,” “Sleep,” and “Health.” Its intuitive layout is designed to allow users to grasp their health status and data trends more easily than ever before. Through integration with the Android “Health Connect” app, the “Apple Health” app, and the “Google Health API,” users can connect with compatible apps and devices to centrally manage healthcare data across multiple services.

The biggest highlight of the “Google Health” app is the integration of the “Google Health Coach,” formerly known as the “Personal Health Coach” powered by “Gemini.” Users can engage in natural conversations or ask questions to “Gemini” to receive personalized training menu suggestions and timely insights tailored to their daily condition.

Additionally, the app offers more personalized healthcare features, such as an expanded leaderboard to compete in step counts with friends, and an evolved cycle tracking system that clearly illustrates the correlation between sleep and physical condition. While the “Fitbit” app has been rebranded to “Google Health,” the core functionality remains inherited from the original Fitbit experience.

Furthermore, the “Google Health” app supports dual-device simultaneous pairing for Fitbit wearables. While the old “Fitbit” app was generally limited to pairing only one device at a time, this limitation has been overcome in the “Google Health” app.

In short, the “Google Health” app enables users to manage two devices simultaneously, such as wearing the “Google Pixel Watch 4” during exercise and throughout the day, and switching to the “Fitbit Air” for sleep tracking.

スマートウォッチ併用も可能、データは統合

Google Fitbit Air

However, when I tested the dual-pairing feature on the Android version of the “Google Health” app, it functioned just like the old “Fitbit” app. It is possible that this benefit is exclusive to the “Fitbit Air.”
