Around mid-August 2026, the border around the Google account icon displayed in the top-right corner of apps such as “Google,” “Google Photos,” and “Google Maps” on Android devices suddenly changed to a blue gradient ring styled after “Gemini.”
Previously, the Google account border featured the traditional Google colors of red, blue, green, and yellow, but a new blue gradient ring inspired by “Gemini” has now been introduced. However, this “Gemini”-styled blue gradient ring on Google accounts has been rolled out to Android devices other than Google Pixel devices.
In my own environment, I confirmed the “Gemini”-styled blue gradient ring on Nothing’s Android device, the “Phone (3a).” It is also possible that this is a blue gradient ring indicating a “Google AI Ultra” or “Google AI Pro” membership.
Furthermore, it has not been introduced across all Google service apps yet, appearing only in select applications so far. While it is expected to roll out gradually app by app, it remains unclear why it has not been introduced on Google Pixel devices.
By the way, the “Gemini”-styled blue gradient ring has not yet been introduced in Google service apps on iOS devices either.
