On Friday, June 26, 2026 (local time), Google announced the rollout of integration between its AI “Gemini” Android app and the “Google Play” app store.
In the “Gemini” app, you can receive smarter, specialized support by enabling integration features for specific apps through the “Extensions” settings. “Google Play” is now being added to this list of extensions. Note that this feature is exclusively available for the Android version of the “Gemini” app.

By integrating “Google Play” into the Android “Gemini” app, you can search for new utility and game apps using natural conversation and install them seamlessly. For example, by telling the Gemini app, “Find me a meditation app,” it will suggest the best options, allowing you to install them directly without leaving the Gemini app. You can also purchase in-app items and Google Play Gift Cards.
The “Google Play” integration for the Android “Gemini” app is currently being rolled out in stages.
