In the January 2026 “Google System Release Notes”—which provide the latest details on the Google System Update aimed at improving the security and reliability of Android-related devices, published on Monday, January 26, 2026—Google announced that users under 18 can now log in to “Android Auto.”
Previously, it seems that users under the age of 18 were restricted from logging into “Android Auto.” however, with the “Google Play services” app v26.03 or later, users under 18 will be able to log in if they meet specific conditions.
That said, the details of these “specific conditions” have not been disclosed and remain unknown. Furthermore, in Japan, where a standard driver’s license cannot be obtained until age 18, the fact that users under 18 can now log in to “Android Auto” may not be particularly significant for car use.
However, since licenses for mopeds, small motorcycles, and standard motorcycles can be obtained from age 16 in Japan, this change might be relevant for those using Android Auto-compatible motorcycle displays.
