- Google is rolling out its new AI model, “Gemini 3 Flash,” as the default AI model for its AI search feature, “AI Mode,” worldwide.
- “Gemini 3 Flash” is a cutting-edge AI model designed for speed and low cost. While maintaining the foundation of “Gemini 3” and “Gemini 3 Pro,” which deliver state-of-the-art performance in complex reasoning, multimodality, and visual understanding, it is optimized for latency, efficiency, and cost.
- In the United States, the “Gemini 3 Pro (Thinking with 3 Pro)” AI model is also being rolled out in “AI Mode.”
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Google began the worldwide rollout of “Gemini 3 Flash,” a new AI model in the next-generation Google AI model “Gemini 3” family that was announced on the same day, as the default AI model for its “AI Mode” search feature.
The newly announced “Gemini 3 Flash,” like previous “Flash” series models, is a cutting-edge AI model designed for speed and low cost. While it maintains the foundation of “Gemini 3” and “Gemini 3 Pro”—which deliver state-of-the-art performance in complex reasoning, multimodality, and visual understanding—it is optimized for latency, efficiency, and cost. Despite being a “Flash” model, it features state-of-the-art performance comparable to “Gemini 3 Pro,” allowing it to provide more accurate answers to complex questions.
Furthermore, in the United States, alongside the rollout of “Gemini 3 Flash” as the default AI model for “AI Mode,” a new selectable AI model, “Gemini 3 Pro (Thinking with 3 Pro),” is also being introduced for “AI Mode.” With “Gemini 3 Pro (Thinking with 3 Pro)” in “AI Mode,” the image generation AI model “Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image)” is also being deployed, enabling users to access cutting-edge image generation and editing within “AI Mode.”
