  • Internal settings to switch icon images appear to have been added for Google Pixel devices up to the “Pixel 10” in the Google Pixel information hub app, “My Pixel”.
  • An analysis of the app files from the “My Pixel” app v8.10.3 update confirmed that internal settings for switching icons have been added for 21 icon variations, whereas the previous v8.9.1 only included the image files.
  • These include 5 colors (Beige, Black, Green, Gray, and Pink) expected for the “Pixel 10”, “Pixel 10 Pro”, and “Pixel 10 Pro XL”; 4 colors (Beige, Black, Pink, and Purple) for the “Pixel 10a” and “Pixel 9a”; and 2 colors (Beige and Black) for the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold” and “Pixel 9 Pro Fold”.

Back in the late September 2026 app update, the Google Pixel information hub app “My Pixel” began preparing app icons tailored to specific models and color variations for Google Pixel devices up to the “Pixel 10”.

At the time, many devices were still in the preparation stage, with only icon images added. However, it now appears that internal settings for switching between these icon images have been added.

Here are the details from our “App Teardown” series, an original app file analysis content provided by our site, “Jetstream”.

As a result of analyzing the app files from the “My Pixel” app v8.10.3 update released on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, we confirmed that internal settings to switch icons have been added for 21 variations out of the icons that only had images in the previous v8.9.1.

The “My Pixel” app v8.10.3 update added internal settings for 5 colors (Beige, Black, Green, Gray, and Pink) expected for the “Pixel 10”, “Pixel 10 Pro”, and “Pixel 10 Pro XL”; 4 colors (Beige, Black, Pink, and Purple) for the “Pixel 10a” and “Pixel 9a”; and 2 colors (Beige and Black) for the “Pixel 10 Pro Fold” and “Pixel 9 Pro Fold”.

In addition, the same internal settings have been added for the dedicated icons of the “Pixel 7 Pro”, “Pixel 7a”, “Pixel 8a”, and “Pixel 8 Pro”.

*(Note: Since the actual source code added this time is quite extensive, only a portion of it is posted below)*

In short, while icons for these models and body colors only had images prepared in the previous “My Pixel” app v8.9.1, this new v8.10.3 update has introduced the internal settings required to switch them as home screen icons. This means that preparations are now in place within the app for Google Pixel devices up to the “Pixel 10” to switch app icons based on model and color variations.

However, all of the newly added internal settings are disabled by default. The actual rollout of model- and color-specific app icons has not yet been confirmed.

Furthermore, the “My Pixel” app v8.10.3 update includes changes to some icon designs. The “Pixel 10a” icon has been changed from a dark gradient design to a bright blue-based design similar to the “Pixel 9a”. For the “Pixel 8 Pro”, two blue-based icon variations were removed and replaced with a new blue-based icon.

Additionally, dedicated icons, theme icons, and notification icon images have been newly added for the “Pixel 6”, “Pixel 6 Pro”, and “Pixel 6a”, which were missing in the previous “My Pixel” app v8.9.1. Icon images for 4 colors (Black, Green, Gray, and Pink) for the “Pixel 8” and 3 colors for the “Pixel 8a” have also been added. However, these are currently still in the image-only preparation stage.

Meanwhile, the dedicated icons for the “Pixel 5a (5G)” and “Pixel 4a”, as well as the color-specific icons for the “Pixel 8 Pro”, remain image-only for now. Future updates may bring icon-switching settings for these alongside the “Pixel 6” series and others.
