On Tuesday, October 13, 2026 local time, Google announced at the end of September 2026 the general global availability of “Gemini 4 Argon,” the first model from the new-generation Google AI model family “Gemini 4.”
“Gemini 4 Argon” is a cutting-edge AI model that delivers top-tier performance in programming, professional fields such as finance and legal, and cybersecurity defense. Although initially provided in a limited capacity through the “Fairwind Program” for security professionals upon its announcement, it has now been widely rolled out to general users and developers alike.
For general users, “Gemini 4 Argon” is now available in the Gemini app and the AI search “AI Mode” for subscribers of the Google AI plans “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra.” While it was initially teased for higher-tier “Google AI Ultra” and “Gemini API” users, it is a welcome development that it is also accessible to “Google AI Pro” members.
In the Gemini app, “Gemini 4 Argon” does not replace “3.1 Pro,” but is instead added to the lineup as a newly selectable AI model named “4 Argon (Gemini 4 Argon).”

When using “Gemini 4 Argon” in the Gemini app or Google Search’s “AI Mode,” it captures user intent more accurately than ever before, smoothly handling complex, multi-step questions and tasks. Furthermore, beating-around-the-bush introductions, repetitive content, and clichés are suppressed, delivering more concise, straight-to-the-point, and easy-to-understand answers.
Additionally, when requesting time-consuming and complex tasks, rather than just leaving you waiting until completion, the AI now communicates progress and intermediate answers in real time as it thinks.
Along with the launch of “Gemini 4 Argon,” features within the Gemini app itself have also been enhanced. The main chat screen now features a newly added switch that allows users to easily toggle between “Chat” and “Tasks (Gemini Spark).”
With “Tasks (Gemini Spark),” you can have Gemini continue working across Google apps and over 40 integrated services even while you are away from your PC. Additionally, the macOS version of the Gemini app has received a new interface enabling seamless switching between chat and programming tasks.

In addition, “Gemini 4 Argon” is being made available to developers and enterprise customers via Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and “Google Antigravity” for “Google AI Ultra” members.
