On Monday, October 12, 2026 (local time), Google officially announced the “Google Fitbit Edge,” a new fitness tracker under the Fitbit brand.
The “Fitbit Edge” is priced at 26,800 JPY (including tax) and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Pre-orders have begun on the official Google online store, the “Google Store,” and other retailers. Additionally, purchases of the “Fitbit Edge” include a complimentary 3-month trial of “Google Health Premium,” a subscription service normally priced at 1,580 JPY per month.
The “Google Store” is also offering a “Trade-in Program,” allowing customers to get a great deal on the “Fitbit Edge” by trading in eligible smartwatches or trackers.
“Fitbit Edge”

The “Fitbit Edge” is positioned as a fitness tracker that bridges the gap between the screenless “Fitbit Air” and the “Google Pixel Watch” smartwatch.
As the successor to the “Fitbit Charge” series, it supports “Google Health Coach,” an AI coaching feature powered by Gemini. The device measures 39.22 × 25.56 × 11.58 mm and weighs 17.7g (excluding the band). It features a soft, contouring shape designed to follow the curve of the wrist, with a housing made from 100% recycled aluminum.
The “Fitbit Edge” is equipped with a 1.34-inch AMOLED color display with always-on support. It is about 40% larger compared to the “Fitbit Charge 6,” making it the brightest Fitbit tracker yet and ensuring high visibility even under direct sunlight.
Ten new watch faces have also been introduced, ranging from sporty designs to analog-style looks. Furthermore, the physical side button has been redesigned for quick access to features such as the workout pause screen.
The interface of the “Fitbit Edge” has been revamped, drawing from the experience of the “Google Pixel Watch 5.” Users can check step counts, weather, and launch workouts via watch face complications, as well as view “Google Health” metrics like sleep, menstrual cycle, and heart rate through tiles.
Additionally, it supports media controls, smartphone notifications, quick replies to messages, alarms, and timers. Turn-by-turn navigation via “Google Maps” is also scheduled to be rolled out within 2026.
For fitness features, it supports over 40 exercise modes and automatic activity recognition, allowing users to check real-time metrics directly on the tracker during workouts. Paired with the “Google Health Coach,” users can instantly tell at a glance when to increase, decrease, or maintain their pace according to their goals. A feature allowing users to start a “Google Health Coach”-generated workout with just a tap on the tracker is scheduled to launch later in 2026.

The built-in GPS supports GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS. Thanks to the nano-molded aluminum housing and a new GPS chipset, accuracy is improved by up to 40% compared to previous generations, allowing users to accurately record routes without needing a smartphone.
An altimeter is also included, enabling the measurement of elevation changes on hills and stairs. In addition, users can check cardio load, daily readiness score, active zone minutes, and VO2 max.
Health features include advanced sleep tracking, an ECG app, atrial fibrillation detection, irregular heart rhythm notifications, high and low heart rate notifications, skin temperature, blood oxygen wellness, and menstrual cycle tracking. Users can also view metrics such as monthly metabolic stress levels and monthly vascular stress trends. Furthermore, a “Health Guardian” feature, which records and notifies users in the background of significant changes in health status, will be available soon.
Please note that accessing advanced “Health Guardian” features, such as blood pressure trends and insulin resistance levels, requires a “Google Health Premium” subscription.

The battery life of the “Fitbit Edge” lasts up to 7 days. It charges to 100% in about 90 minutes, and when the battery is low, a 5-minute charge provides up to a full day of use.
It features 5 ATM water resistance and IP68 dust and water resistance. Moreover, the “Fitbit Edge” is the first Fitbit device designed with repairability in mind, featuring an internal modular structure that allows users to replace the battery. The battery cells use 100% recycled cobalt and, for the first time, 100% recycled lithium.
The “Fitbit Edge” is available in four color variations: “Matte Black / Obsidian,” “Satin Silver / Fog,” “Satin Pyrite / Olive,” and “Champagne Gold / Canyon,” all pairing an aluminum case with an active band. Additionally, separately sold bands including Active Sport Bands, Performance Loop Bands, Magnetic Bands, and Metal Link Bands are also available.
