- It appears that the Android version of the “YouTube” app is currently undergoing testing in which “YouTube Shorts”—short-form video content—automatically play upon launch.
- Even after “forcing the app to stop,” “YouTube Shorts” still play automatically when the Android version of the “YouTube” app is launched.
- There also appears to be no setting to turn off the “YouTube Shorts” autoplay feature.
It appears that Google is currently conducting a test in the Android version of the “YouTube” app, where short-form video content “YouTube Shorts” automatically plays upon startup.
This was confirmed on only one of the multiple Android devices I currently own, the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold.” On the “Pixel 11 Pro Fold,” “YouTube Shorts” starts playing the moment the Android “YouTube” app is launched.
Even after “Force Stopping” the Android “YouTube” app, “YouTube Shorts” still automatically plays when the app is reopened. However, this behavior could not be confirmed on my other Android devices.
Furthermore, I could not find any settings to turn off this “YouTube Shorts” auto-play feature.
To be honest, this is not a welcome feature at all. In fact, it is quite annoying.
