Google has announced new features for the “Find Hub” location-identifying service in the latest October 2026 “Google System Release Notes”—part of the “Google System Updates” published on October 5, 2026, which improve the security and reliability of Android-related devices.

The newly announced “Find Hub” features are NFC support for the Android version of the “Find Hub” app and an improved initial setup flow for “Find Hub” tags.

With NFC support in the Android “Find Hub” app, holding an NFC-compatible “Find Hub” tag near an NFC-enabled Android device will allow users to quickly access the tag’s details and settings, or identify a lost “Find Hub” tag. This identification feature is expected to be the same functionality discovered in the app files of Android’s “Google Play services” app v26.33.60 released on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, which displays contact information for the registered owner of a “Find Hub” tag.

While the Android device must support NFC, the “Find Hub” tag itself must also support it, suggesting that this feature is likely intended for upcoming Bluetooth tracker tags such as the “Google Pixel Tag.”

Meanwhile, the improved initial setup flow for “Find Hub” tags will allow users to seamlessly configure categories and rename tags during the initial setup process—tasks that previously required pairing the “Find Hub” tag first and then configuring them separately within the Android “Find Hub” app. Furthermore, left-behind reminder features, which are currently rolled out as third-party features by individual “Find Hub” tag manufacturers, will now have native support in the Android “Find Hub” app and “Find Hub” tags.

In short, Google’s location-identifying service “Find Hub” is set to undergo significant evolution. These features will be rolled out starting with version 26.39 and later of the Android “Google Play services” app.
