Google has announced in May 2026 that “Googlebook” is a new laptop brand designed for the next-generation intelligent system “Gemini Intelligence,” slated for release in the fall of 2026.
“Googlebook” is expected to arrive soon as a laptop brand powered by a brand-new OS that combines the best elements of Android—known for its high extensibility through apps—and the lightweight, popular ChromeOS.
Now, the pre-order start date for “Googlebook” has finally been confirmed. Pre-orders will begin on Monday, September 21, 2026.
The pre-order date was revealed after the text “Pre-order September 21” was added to the official Googlebook website. However, the official release date has not yet been announced.
It has also been previously announced that “Googlebook” is being developed by partner companies such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, and will be released in various form factors and sizes, though the initial lineup has not yet been disclosed. Furthermore, as this information is primarily focused on overseas markets centering around the US, it remains unclear whether pre-orders for “Googlebook” will also start on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Japan.
Designed for “Gemini Intelligence”
“Googlebook” is an entirely new laptop brand built from the ground up for the next-generation intelligent system, “Gemini Intelligence.”
“Googlebook” features the “Magic Pointer” function, which allows Gemini to understand the context simply by hovering the cursor over text or images on the screen, instantly suggesting the optimal action. For example, it can set up a meeting based on a date found in an email, or allow you to select two images—such as a living room and a new sofa—to instantly view them side-by-side.
It also comes equipped with “Create My Widget,” a custom widget generation feature that lets you create original widgets simply by describing the functionality you want using natural language.
Seamless Workflow with Android
“Googlebook” features functionality to operate Android device apps directly on the screen, as well as a “Quick Access” feature that allows you to view, search, and use files from your Android device directly through the Googlebook file browser.
A key characteristic is its ability to deliver a seamless working environment when used alongside Android devices. Furthermore, because “Googlebook” is built on top of Android core technologies, new features will be rolled out even faster.
Premium Hardware and Design
In addition to a fingerprint sensor, “Googlebook” also features a distinctive “Glowbar” on the back of the device that uses light to indicate when Gemini is active.
It will be released with an iconic design that combines both functionality and beauty.
