  • The “Trapezoid Correction (Projective Transformation)” editing tool in “Google Photos” is a photo editing feature that automatically corrects photos—such as those of posters taken at an angle—so they appear as if they were taken from the front.

With the app update released in early September 2026, the iOS version of the “Google Photos” app has finally rolled out its new photo editor.

In the new photo editor for the iOS version of “Google Photos,” much like the Android version, the UI has been redesigned to integrate existing editing tools with AI features such as “Magic Editor.”

However, the anticipated return of the “Perspective Correction” (projective transformation) editing tool has not been confirmed so far in the new photo editor for the iOS version of “Google Photos.” Although “Perspective Correction” returned around December 2025 in the Android version of “Google Photos,” unfortunately, it has not made a comeback in the newly redesigned iOS version yet.

For reference, the “Perspective Correction” tool in “Google Photos” is a photo editing feature that automatically straightens photos of posters or other objects taken from an angle, making them look as if they were shot straight-on. It was removed alongside the rollout of the new photo editor in late July 2025, but returned around December 2025 in the Android version.

While “Perspective Correction” has not yet returned to the iOS version of “Google Photos,” it may potentially make a comeback in the future.
