On Thursday, September 10, 2026 (local time), Google released the Windows version of the Google AI “Gemini” app, which can be instantly invoked using the “Alt + Space” keyboard shortcut.
The newly released Windows version of the “Gemini” app follows the macOS version of the “Gemini” app released in mid-April 2026. It can be installed on PCs running Windows 10 or later.
The Windows version of the “Gemini” app is available in all countries and languages where the web version of the “Gemini” app is supported, including Japan and Japanese.
With the Windows version of the “Gemini” app, you can instantly bring up “Gemini” over your active screen using the “Alt + Space” keyboard shortcut. Whether you want to fact-check content in a document or need title ideas for a presentation, you can quickly invoke the Windows “Gemini” app and keep working without breaking your flow.
Like the macOS version, the Windows version of the “Gemini” app also supports the personal AI agent “Gemini Spark.” You can have it handle multi-step tasks or directly reference information from “Gmail” and “Google Drive” to generate project summaries.
Additionally, image generation using the image generation AI model “Nano Banana” and video generation/editing using the multimodal video generation AI model “Gemini Omni” are also available. Furthermore, the Windows version of the “Gemini” app is lightweight, meaning it won’t slow down your PC even while running in the background.
Google plans to continuously add more native desktop features to both the Windows and macOS versions of the “Gemini” app in the future.
