The app version v17.6.663424-release update for the Android version of the Google car operating system, “Android Auto,” began rolling out around Monday, August 31, 2026.
While this Android “Android Auto” app v17.6.663424-release update does not introduce any specific new features, as shown in the image at the beginning, the app icon has surprisingly been redesigned. Recently, apps like “My Pixel,” “Google Pixel Buds,” “Google Pixel Watch,” “Magnifier,” and the “Clock” app have been updated with blue-themed icons. However, similar to the “Calculator” app, the Android “Android Auto” app has been redesigned with a green-themed icon rather than blue.
An unexpected green icon. It looks like it’s going to face a storm of criticism.
Seriously, why on earth?!
