On Thursday, August 27, 2026 local time, Google officially announced “Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash,” the latest version of its video generation AI model.
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” is the latest video generation AI model featuring several new additions, including “Scene Extension” and a 360p preview function. While it is being rolled out for developers via the “Gemini API” on the multimodal generative AI development platform “Google AI Studio,” all features will also be available for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members in the AI video production tool “Google Flow,” and “Scene Extension” will be available in the “Gemini” app.
“Scene Extension”
The biggest highlight of “Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” is its video “Scene Extension” feature.
While previous video generation AI models could only reference the final 1 second of footage, “Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” can now generate continuations based on up to 10 seconds of past footage. With “Scene Extension,” you can chain 10-second clips together, making it possible to generate videos up to 40 seconds long.
Smooth First-and-Last Frame Transition Feature
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” also adds an automatic video generation feature that seamlessly connects the space between the first and last frames of a video simply by specifying them.
Because it generates continuous video between two keyframes, it is ideal for complex camera movements, zoom transitions, and seamless loop clips.
360p Preview Function
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” also newly provides a 360p preview function that allows users to create video drafts quickly and at low cost.
This helps save time and cost when you want to experiment with multiple video patterns during the brainstorming stage. The finalized version can then be upscaled and exported in high resolutions equivalent to 1080p or 4K.
Video Reference Feature
“Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash” also adds a video reference feature that lets you ingest multiple reference videos of up to 3 seconds each to generate new footage while maintaining consistency in character appearance and movement.
