On Thursday, August 27, 2026, local time, Google announced three updates coming to its AI search service, “AI Mode,” designed to enhance the travel experience.
The three travel-enhancing updates introduced to “AI Mode” are Google Flights integration, miles/points pricing display, and hotel booking. While hotel booking is rolling out in the US, the other features will also be available in Japan.
Google Flights Integration
The flight price tracking service “Google Flights” has been integrated into “AI Mode.”
This allows you to set up Google Flights price tracking alerts simply by telling “AI Mode” your destination and dates. By asking “AI Mode” to “track the price of this flight,” you will receive email notifications whenever the price fluctuates for the specified destination and dates.
The Google Flights integration in “AI Mode” is rolling out in over 180 countries and regions.
Miles and Points Pricing Display
A new feature is being introduced to “AI Mode” that displays flight and hotel prices converted into miles and points.
For example, if you ask, “Find a nonstop flight from Narita to Honolulu using Hawaiian Airlines miles, departing October 9 and returning October 12,” it will show the required number of miles based on the latest data from partner airlines. For hotels, you can also check the required points by sharing your destination, dates, and preferred loyalty program. When booking, you can seamlessly proceed with point/mile redemption through links to partner sites.
This miles and points conversion feature in “AI Mode” is rolling out globally, with initial support from Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and the Lufthansa Group is planned for the coming weeks.
“AI Mode” Hotel Booking
You will now be able to complete hotel bookings directly within “AI Mode.”
By sharing your travel plans and preferences with “AI Mode,” a list of hotel options will appear, complete with reviews and helpful information for comparison. Once you find a hotel you like, you can request to book it, select “Continue on Google” from the partner options, review room types and cancellation policies, and finalize your reservation using Google Pay.
“AI Mode” hotel booking is rolling out first in the US (in English). Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts will be supported sequentially.
