Around early April 2026, resource codes for a “Harry Potter” theme were added internally as a new theme for the “Theme Pack” app—which allows users to customize wallpapers, icons, system sounds, GIF animations, and more on Google Pixel devices—and its existence was confirmed.
However, in an app update released a week after its discovery, the resource codes related to the “Harry Potter” theme were internally removed. Since then, not only has no further information emerged, but theme rollouts for the “Theme Pack” app itself have also been stalled for several months. As of late August 2026, no new themes are currently being distributed in the “Theme Pack” app.
Even so, the “Harry Potter” theme may finally be released. The possibility has suddenly resurfaced after notification text reading “Try the Harry Potter theme” appeared on the “Wallpaper & style” settings screen of some Google Pixel devices.
However, contrary to the “Try the Harry Potter theme” notification, the “Harry Potter” theme has not been released yet. In addition, the notification itself only appeared temporarily for some users.
Regardless, given that only the “Wicked” and “SpongeBob” themes have been released in nearly a year for the Google Pixel “Theme Pack” app, rumors had even circulated that the service might quietly be shut down. However, the release of the “Harry Potter” theme could turn things around.
