On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Rakuten Payment, Inc. launched the “Offline Code Payment” feature for its cashless payment service, “Rakuten Pay.”
The “Offline Code Payment” feature on “Rakuten Pay” is a convenient function that allows users to make payments using “Rakuten Pay” code payments even in poor network conditions, such as in areas with weak signals or during communication outages. When network conditions are poor, a prompt for “Offline Code Payment” automatically appears. Tapping this prompt and then tapping “Show payment screen” at the bottom of the screen will display the “Offline Code Payment” screen.
From there, you simply complete the code payment as usual. In addition to “Rakuten Pay Balance (Rakuten Cash),” available payment sources for “Offline Code Payment” include credit cards such as “Rakuten Card,” and “Rakuten Points” can also be used.

The “Offline Code Payment” feature for “Rakuten Pay” is currently available first on the iOS version of the app. The Android version of the “Rakuten Pay” app is scheduled to receive the feature around the fall of 2026.
