On Friday, July 17, 2026 (local time), Google released the latest official update titled “What’s new for Gemini Spark,” which covers new features and improvements for “Gemini Spark,” the personal AI agent available to “Google AI Ultra” and “Google AI Pro (US)” members.
The new feature introduced for “Gemini Spark” is support for setting up tasks and skills. Previously, when configuring tasks (specific goals) and skills (operational rules) in Gemini Spark, users had to submit somewhat polished prompts or manually adjust settings during the setup process.
However, users can now interact with Gemini Spark conversationally by asking things like, “Help me set up a task” or “Suggest automation rules.” Gemini Spark will now propose relevant tasks and skills, and by responding to its suggestions, users can create the optimal task configuration. In short, Gemini Spark now provides intuitive, user-friendly support for setting up tasks and skills.
“Gemini Spark” was initially launched for “Google AI Ultra” members in the United States and has since expanded to “Google AI Ultra” members in other regions, including Japan, as of Thursday, July 16, 2026 (more details here).
