On Monday, July 20, 2026 local time, Google released the beta OS update “Android 17 QPR 2 Beta 1” for Google Pixel devices enrolled in the pre-release Android OS trial program “Android Beta Program.”
“Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1” is based on “Android 17 QPR2,” which is the second set of updates following “Android 17 QPR1” (the first update group of the quarterly platform releases (QPR) deployed after the official release of “Android 17”). Furthermore, “Android 17 QPR2 Beta x” serves as the beta OS leading up to the official release.
For the first update group “Android 17 QPR1,” the initial beta update “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 was released on Wednesday, April 22, 2026,” followed by the sequential releases of “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 2,” “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3,” “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4,” “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 5,” “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 6,” and “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7.” Now, the first beta update of the second update group, “Android 17 QPR 2 Beta 1,” has been released.
“Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1” is being delivered via Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates to a total of 19 models enrolled in the “Android Beta Program”: Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10a. Meanwhile, starting with “Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1” and later, the “Pixel 6” and “Pixel 6 Pro” have finally been excluded from supported devices.
Effectively, the “Pixel 6” and “Pixel 6 Pro” are no longer eligible for the “Android Beta Program.”

After applying the “Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1” update, the build number will be updated to “CP31.260623.005,” and the “Google Play services” app to v26.23.34 or later. The Android security patch remains “July 5, 2026,” unchanged from the previous “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7.”
