- With this transition, Gemini Notebook now supports background code generation and execution based on source materials, enabling advanced, high-precision data processing such as complex data analysis and accurate graph generation.
- Integration of “Notebooks (Gemini Notebook)” into the “AI Mode” AI search service has also been teased.
On Thursday, July 16, 2026 (local time), Google announced that its research and writing assistant tool, “NotebookLM (Google NotebookLM),” is being reincarnated as “Gemini Notebook.”
Originally announced three years ago at “Google I/O 2023” as “Project Tailwind,” NotebookLM is now reborn as Gemini Notebook. Along with this transition, Gemini Notebook has gained the ability to perform code generation and execution in the background based on source materials, allowing for more advanced and high-precision data processing, such as complex data analysis and the creation of accurate graphs.
As a result, even when adding data analysis-related sources to Gemini Notebook, users can now obtain analytical results based on more precise calculations. This background code generation and execution feature for Gemini Notebook is rolling out to the web version for “Google AI Ultra” members, with availability expanding to “Google AI Pro” members in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Google has teased the upcoming integration of “Notebooks (Gemini Notebook)” into its AI search service, “AI Mode.”
