On Tuesday, July 14, 2026 (local time), Google announced the start of a special limited-time enrollment period for “Pixel Care+,” the new device protection service that replaces “Preferred Care“—which originally launched in Japan on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (link to report). This offer is available for Google Pixel devices starting from the Pixel 9 series.

“Pixel Care+” is a paid protection service that can typically be signed up for within 30 days of purchase via the Google Store or the “My Pixel” app, offering benefits such as free battery replacements and zero-deductible repairs. Users can choose between two payment plans: a “Monthly Plan” extendable up to 60 months, or a “2-Year Upfront Plan.” Basic coverage includes free screen/battery repairs, unlimited accidental damage protection, walk-in repair options, priority expert support, expedited shipping for replacements, and the peace of mind of genuine Google parts.

Additionally, users can opt for an extra protection plan that covers loss and theft.

“Pixel Care+” is based on services provided by Asurion, a global leader in device protection, repair, and support. Similar to Preferred Care, initial costs vary by device. Furthermore, preparations are underway to allow subscriptions for devices purchased outside of the Google Store.

・Screen (front/back) repair or battery replacement with $0 deductible.
 *A separate service fee is required for the inner display of the “Pixel Fold” series.
 *Battery replacement is covered when maximum capacity drops below 80%.
■ Unlimited Accidental Damage Protection
・Unlimited claims for damage caused by accidents like drops or spills, or mechanical failures.
 *Note: Loss/theft coverage is limited to twice every 12 months.
■ Walk-in Repair Support
・In-person repairs available at over 100 “iCracked” locations nationwide (Japan).
 *Google Pixel smartphones only.
■ Priority Expert Support
・Priority support from Google Pixel experts to resolve troubleshooting issues.
■ Expedited Replacement Shipping
・When a replacement is needed, it is shipped with free delivery, as early as the next day.
 *Excludes some regions.
■ (Optional) Loss & Theft Coverage Plan
・An add-on plan to protect against loss or theft.
 *The “Find My Device” (Find Hub) feature must be enabled at the time of loss/theft.
■ Genuine Google Parts
・Repairs are performed using genuine Google parts, and replacements are authentic Google products.
“Pixel Care+”

While “Pixel Care+” usually requires sign-up within 30 days of purchase from the Google Store, this special enrollment period is now open until Sunday, August 2, 2026, for eight models: the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10a. Please note that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and 10 Pro Fold are excluded.

“Pixel Care+” can be registered through the Google Store or the “My Pixel” information hub app. However, at this moment, it has not been confirmed if this special enrollment for “Pixel Care+” is available in Japan.
