On Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (local time), Google released the release notes for the latest update, version v5.03, of the “Google Health” app for Android and iOS.
In addition to updates to the “Today” tab, sleep tracking, and fitness/activity features, the Google Health app v5.03 brings new features previously introduced in Android version v5.02 to the iOS version. The v5.03 update will be rolled out gradually to all users over the course of the next week, starting today.
■ “Today” Tab Enhancements
The variety of metric tiles available for the “Today” tab has been expanded. Users can now add Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Breathing Rate, Oxygen Saturation (SpO2), Resting Heart Rate, Skin Temperature Variation, Blood Glucose, Mindful Minutes, Mindfulness Days, Resilience, Protein Intake, Fat Intake, Carbohydrate Intake, and a Friend Leaderboard. Previously restricted to the “Health” tab, these metrics can now be added to the “Today” dashboard, allowing for quicker and easier monitoring of daily progress.
■ Sleep Tracking Updates
Improved Total Sleep Time Tracking: Naps longer than 20 minutes are now counted toward the 24-hour total sleep time (visible in the Daily Sleep view of the “Sleep” tab). This view now allows users to check the main sleep session, the total sleep time including naps, and their respective time-series trends. Note that the “Today” tab metric tile will continue to display only the main sleep duration.
■ Fitness and Activity Updates
Fixed Swimming Measurement Issues: Resolved a bug where swimming exercise distances or units were displayed incorrectly for some users.
Fixed Elevation Gain Display with Strava: Resolved an issue where elevation gain in the Google Health app differed significantly from data in Strava or TCX files.
■ iOS Version v5.03 (Features previously released in Android v5.02)
The following updates, previously introduced in the Android version of the Google Health app (v5.02), are now available in iOS version v5.03:
Easier Sorting of “Key Metrics” in the Health Tab: Users can now rearrange charts in the “Key Metrics” section of the Health tab using drag-and-drop. Simply tap “Customize,” long-press the desired chart, and drag it to your preferred position.
Improved Food Search: Search results now include serving sizes and calorie counts, making it easier to find the items you are looking for.
Easier Access to Nap Data: Recorded nap data is now easier to locate, with a dedicated tab now available on the daily sleep score screen.
